Welcome to East Nashville. The Far Side of the Bridge.
If you’re a Nashville native, you certainly know that East Nashville has exploded overnight into the trendiest, most interesting part of the city.
If you’re new around here, most likely every third recommendation you get for entertainment or places to eat will lead you straight across the Cumberland from the rest of the skyline. But you have to visit to see the activities and local haunts in East Nashville.
1. For Foodies –
This seems obvious. But it really is impossible to squeeze every delectable eatery in town into one humble conversation. I Dream of Weenie, the local hot dog food truck, is a perennial favorite. Those with more refined palates might prefer to visit Marché Artisan Foods, which is a popular relaxed marketplace. Nashvillians with a sweet tooth will be relieved to hear that East Nashville boasts a Jeni’s Ice Cream and Olive and Sinclair Artisan Chocolates. And, of course, there are an abundance of coffee houses scattered throughout town, including the popular Barista Parlor.
2. Into Nature –
One of Nashville’s most distinctive charms is its variety. After cruising Broadway into East Nashville you will quickly find the beautiful site of green. East Nashville is no different, as it boasts the beautiful Shelby Bottoms Park. The park features several miles of land along the Cumberland River. Its many features include five miles of walking trails, a nature center, and several educational programs.
3. Shopping Haunts –
Remember how I referred to East Nashville as trendiest part of the city? You will find this trait in the many vintage shops and unique local haunts to be found around town, like East Side Story (one of Nashville’s best bookstores). Fond Object Records is also a beloved spot. And if you like record stores, The Groove is the place on the east side of town. While you’re there, check out the shops just across the alley near the Barista Parlor.
